‘MY DESTINATION SABAH & LABUAN’ CONTINUES IN PUTRAJAYA

PUTRAJAYA, 24 February 2022 – Following its first session in the Southern Region, My Destination Sabah & Labuan Meet Johor and Putrajaya Roadshow 2022 continues in Putrajaya, targeting participants from the Central Region through its promotional programme. Held at The Everly Putrajaya, this year’s roadshow is succeeded by its first mission that was held in Penang last December with the industry partners in the Northern Region.

An initiative between Tourism Malaysia together with its strategic partners; Sabah Tourism Board, Labuan Corporation, Sabah Tourist Association (STA), Malaysia Airlines Berhad, MASwings, and AirAsia Berhad, this programme aims to provide motivation and tour operator support to tourism industry players in Sabah and the Federal Territory of Labuan to further stimulate the revival of the domestic tourism sector. It involves bilateral business-to-business (B2B) meetings between tour operators as sellers to boost the movement of domestic tourism among travellers in the Central Region.

The Sabah and Labuan delegation armed with 18 travel agencies, seven (7) hotels, three (3) airlines, and 10 officials aim at targeting 70 to 80 buyers from the Central Region consisting of travel agents, government departments and corporate companies. Various exciting packages have been developed to target leisure tourists, government agencies and corporate companies to make Sabah and Labuan their preferred destinations for holidays, meetings, seminars, team building activities, and incentive tours.

Sellers have also developed creative and unique packages to make it more appealing for local business communities to organise corporate events which can indirectly create a network of cooperation between travel agencies and in turn encourage organised holidays in the new normal while contributing to the MICE market segment. The roadshow also offers participants to ‘cross-sell’ other tourism destinations in the Central Region by touring several tourism products around Putrajaya, organised by Putrajaya Corporation.

Tourism Malaysia hopes that the implementation of such programs will help to stimulate and revitalise the domestic tourism industry in Sabah and Labuan as well as to raise the confidence level of domestic tourists from Peninsular Malaysia to choose Sabah and Labuan as their preferred holiday destinations.

The event was officiated by Mr. Iskandar Mirza Mohd Yusof, Senior Director of Domestic and Events Division, Tourism Malaysia, Madam Noredah Othman, Chief Executive Officer of Sabah Tourism Board, Mr. Tonny Chew, President of Sabah Tourist Association, Ms. Zunaidah Hamzah, Assistant Director Department of Tourism, Culture & Arts, and Tracey J Tojuka, Deputy Director of Tourism Malaysia Sabah, top government officials of various agencies and foreign dignitaries.
