MALAYSIA PROMOTION IN NEPAL
This trend will be helped by Air Nepal International's recent
introduction of direct flights to Kuala Lumpur from Kathmandu on
24 July 2005. The carrier is currently operating thrice weekly to
and from Kuala Lumpur on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday using
a widebodied B767300 aircraft.In conjunction with Malaysia's National Day
celebration, Tourism Malaysia is organising a Food & Cultural Promotion
in Kathmandu, Nepal, from 30 August to 8 September 2005 at
the Café Restaurant in Hyatt Regency Kathmandu.
The promotion is held with the cooperation of Air Nepal
International, Hyatt Regency Kathmandu Hotel, the Malaysian
Embassy in Nepal, the Himalayan Times, Annapurna Post as the
official media together with travel agencies in Nepal, namely Marco
Polo Travels and J & T Associates.
H.E. Mahinder Singh a/l Ram Singh, the Malaysian Ambassador in
Nepal, will launch the Food & Cultural Promotion at the Regency
Ballroom on 31 August. Invitees include travel industry players
from the corporate sector, media, diplomats and travel agents.
Visitors to the Food & Cultural Promotion will view the "Malaysia,
the Heart of South East Asia" video, enjoy cultural performances
by the Istana Budaya cultural troupe, and savour delicious cuisine
by Malaysian chefs.
At the event, Air Nepal International and travel agencies in
Kathmandu will offer special air packages to Malaysia to visitors
from Kathmandu with discounts from 5 to 10%. Those who have
lunch or dinner at the Café Restaurant and spend more than
NRs500 (RM30) are eligible for the special package discount.
The Food & Cultural Promotion is an effort by Tourism Malaysia to
promote the country's delicious cuisine and interesting culture, as
well as to increase awareness of Malaysia as an ideal holiday
destination.
Judging from the outbound travel of Nepali citizens to China,
Singapore and Thailand which amounted to 121,000 in 2004,
Nepal has great potential in contributing to Malaysia's tourism
revenue. Tourist arrivals from Nepal showed an increase of
43.1 per cent with 8,588 tourists in 2004 compared to 6,003
tourists in 2003.
This trend will be helped by Air Nepal International's recent
introduction of direct flights to Kuala Lumpur from Kathmandu on
24 July 2005. The carrier is currently operating thrice weekly to
and from Kuala Lumpur on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday using
a widebodied B767300 aircraft.
