'MAKE IT MALAYSIA' PROGRAMME
A total of 92 participants comprising captains of the travel industry, media from the United Kingdom, Scandinavia and Russia are taking part in the "Make It Malaysia" programme from 30 November to 8 December 2005.
As part of the promotional activities organised by Tourism Malaysia's International Promotion Division, the participants will be touring Penang, Kedah, Langkawi, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya. This activity is supported by Malaysia Airlines, Hertz Rent- A-Car, the respective states' authorities , PLUS (North South Highway Project Authority), Tourist Police and Traffic Police Unit and other supporting organizations.
The "Make It Malaysia" programme is expected to generate a closer relationship between the travel trade partners. Media attendees and frontliners from Europe will get first-hand experience about tourism products and updated information about holiday destinations to enable them to market Malaysia more convincingly.
The concept of this programme is fly and drive and participants are given the opportunity to drive their own vehicle at certain locations covering Penang, Perak and Selangor. Some 20 Malaysian-made cars namely Proton Waja and Naza Ria will be provided for the participants and the participating cars are required to travel in a convoy. This will enable them to get the taste of traveling in Malaysia by car and enjoy ‘off the beaten track' tourism products at the same time.
PLUS Berhad has also agreed to provide tea/coffee refreshments for the participants during their stops at the Rest and Recreational Areas (R&R) along the North-South Highway.
Other activities include seminars/workshops at each state and activities such as Fun & Easy requires the participants to take part in a trishaw race in Penang, traditional food hunting at Pekan Rabu, Kedah, and optional programs include golfing, health/spa treatment, games, cruising, learn how to cook, handicraft clinic.
