TOURISM MALAYSIA TEAMS UP MARVEL RUN FOR VM2020


PUTRAJAYA, 7 SEPTEMBER 2019: Tourism Malaysia Director General YBhg. Datuk Musa Yusof today officially flagged off 15,000 runners for MARVEL RUN Malaysia 2019 event, in conjunction with Visit Truly Asia Malaysia 2020 campaign (VM2020). Themed around four prominent MARVEL Super Heroes – Back Panther, Captain America, Captain Marvel and Thor, the event saw the participation of all ages from Malaysia, as well as international runners namely from Singapore, Australia, Germany, United Kingdom and Ecuador.

The event features four categories – 800M and 1.2KM kids’ dash, 5KM (non-competitive) and 10KM (Competitive). Apart from the run, the Race Village was a huge attraction with Kids Zone, plusphoto session and Meet & Greet opportunities with Captain America and Captain Marvel. An outdoor screening of Marvel Studio’s Avengers: Endgame also a big hit among crowds. Adding to the excitement were MARVEL fans who came decked in their finest MARVEL outfits.

The event, marked the first cooperation between Tourism Malaysia and power brand MARVEL, in line with the VM2020 campaign. The cooperation will see dissemination of VM2020 publicity materials in multiple platforms by organizer, including Disney Digital Network (DDN).

“Tourism Malaysia are delighted to work with MARVEL Run 2019, which highlights Malaysia as a sport tourism destination, as well as the preferred entertainment hub,” said Datuk Musa. The event is part of the efforts to boost promotion of VM2020 , which aims to achieve 30 million international tourists, and RM100bil in tourist receipts.

Datuk Musa added that Tourism Malaysia will continue to cooperate with private organisers to bring international events to Malaysia as part of the marketing strategies.
