KUALA LUMPUR, 23 September 2022 – Tourism Malaysia Medan Office has taken travel agents and media from Indonesia for a 6D5N familiarisation trip to several destinations in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Selangor from 6 to 11 September 2022.

With a theme of "Exciting Vacation in Malaysia - Nature to City Experience", the fam trip aimed to offer participants the chance to experience both the colourful city and the serene of nature to promote to the Indonesian market.

A total of 14 participants consisted of seven (7) travel agents and six (6) media and bloggers aboard from Medan to Kuala Lumpur, sponsored by Batik Air. Participants also had the opportunity to taste Malaysia’s authentic and local cuisine.

The visiting destinations include the Genting SkyWorlds Theme Park, 360 Atmosphere Restaurant KL Tower, Saloma Link, Sunway Lagoon, Sky Mirror, Tasik Putrajaya Cruise, Nasrul Quran, and Dragon Fruit Eco Farm.

The Director General of Tourism Malaysia, Dato’ Hj. Zainuddin Wahab expressed his hope that Medan travel agents will continue to be active in selling tour packages to Malaysia.

The ease of travel taken by the governments of the two countries, Indonesia and Malaysia, will revive the tourism of the two countries and recover even more in the next few years, said Dato’ Hj. Zainuddin.

The participants also had a session with the Malaysian travel players and exchanging ideas about reviving tourism in both countries through the unique attractions of Malaysia and Indonesia, especially North Sumatra.

Other areas in Malaysia such as the East Coast of Malaysia, namely Kelantan, Pahang, and Terengganu have the potential to be visited by tourists from Sumatra. Erwin Lopolisa from Fantasy Holidays Medan, the Chairman of the Association of Indonesian Tourism Actors (ASPPI) North Sumatra, believes that Redang Island with the beach with white sand and clear water makes it one of the best tourist attractions in Malaysia.
