TOURISM MALAYSIA ORGANISED MEDIA FAMTRIP TO BOOST TOURISTS FROM SOUTH KOREA
PUTRAJAYA, 24 June 2023 – Tourism Malaysia Seoul in collaboration with Malaysia Airlines (Korea) organised a media familiarisation trip in an effort to boost tourists from South Korea. Five (5) media representatives participated in this five-day-four-night (5D4N) event held in Kuala Lumpur and Penang, from 20th until 24th June 2023.
Among the highlighted places of interest in Kuala Lumpur were the KL City Gallery, the Sultan Abdul Samad Building, KL Forest Eco Park, KLCC Observation Deck, Saloma Bridge, and the Sunset Lookout Point. Participants also had the chance to experience the magnificent night view of Kuala Lumpur above the clouds at Vertigo, a stylish and modern bar located on Level 59 of Banyan Tree Kuala Lumpur.
In Penang, the media representatives were brought to the Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion, the Penang Peranakan Mansion, and The Top Penang. They were also able to view the sunset along Batu Ferringhi Beach and even enjoyed a trishaw ride at Georgetown.
Throughout the trip, the media was introduced to a variety of Malaysian cuisine, from fine dining to street food in both KL and Penang, where they indulged in scrumptious foods such as Rebung Restaurant in KL – a Malay restaurant owned by a renowned local chef celebrity of Malaysia, Chef' Dato Ismail Ahmad. They also experienced some parts of Penang's food heritage like the Moh Teng Pheow Nyonya Koay – a Bib Gourmand’s restaurant that has been listed in the 2023 MICHELIN Guide Malaysia.
The media trip was also co-hosted by Penang Global Tourism, and the group spent two (2) nights in Malaysia at the Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur and the remaining nights in Penang at The Prestige Hotel Penang. Malaysia Airlines currently operates daily flights from Incheon (ICN) to Kuala Lumpur (KUL).
