TOURISM MALAYSIA DEPUTY DIRECTOR-GENERAL (II)

Tourism Malaysia's Director of International Promotion Mr.
Mirza Mohammad Taiyab Beg, has been appointed Deputy DirectorGeneral
(II) effective 23 December 2003.

Mr. Mirza joined Tourism Malaysia, previously known as the
Tourist Development Corporation Malaysia (TDC), in 1982 after
earning a degree in Business Administration and a Diploma in
Tourism Administration from UITM.

Prior to joining Tourism Malaysia, he served in various
positions, ranging from development and project management where
he was general manager of two premier hotels the Langkawi Island
Resort and Tanjung Jara Beach Hotel.

While attached to Tourism Malaysia's International Marketing
Division, Mr.Mirza successfully completed two overseas assignments.
He was Director of the Frankfurt office overseeing promotional
projects in Germany, Austria, Italy and Switzerland from 1989 to
1990. Then he headed Tourism Malaysia's office in Tokyo from July
1995 to March 2000.

Mr Mirza was also Malaysia's Deputy Commissioner General at
the World Expo in Brisbane in 1988, Head of Europe Promotion Unit
from 1990 to 1992 and Head of Package Development Unit from
1993 to 1995.

His recent experience in international advertising, public
relations and international promotions of Tourism Malaysia will be
invaluable for his new appointment as he is tasked to oversee five
key divisions, namely Communications, Advertising, International
Promotions, Conventions and Marketing Support Services.

During his long career with Tourism Malaysia, Mr. Mirza also
managed to obtain his MBA from UITM/Ohio University and has
attended a host of other training programmes.

Born in December 1958 in Bagan Serai, Perak, Mr. Mirza was
an active boy scout who enjoyed adventure, nature and wildlife during
his youth. He is married to Puan Zarina Banu bt Mumtaz Ahmad and
they have three children.
