The three-day festival staged at the Mukah Riverfront saw an increase in participants this year with the 20-paddler Bidar (traditional racing boat) registering 36 boats, while the 30-paddler boats vie for the ‘Batang Mukah King' championship. More than 14 water sporting categories were showcased at the regatta in conjunction with Mukah Water Festival 2005. Pocket shows in line with the Festival include a three-week fun fair at the Medan Setia Raja.

With the introduction of coastal-based activities, the Mukah Water Fest provides a boost to the Central Region and the local tourism industry. "Next year, we will invite amateur international paddlers to compete at the Festival to give it an international feel," the Hon, Minister said.
