TOURISM MALAYSIA AND SHARP RELEASE VM2020 PROMOTIONAL VIDEOS

PUTRAJAYA, 5 MARCH 2020: Tourism Malaysia and SHARP Electronics Malaysia worked together to co-produce videos celebrating the Visit Malaysia 2020 (VM2020) campaign which were officially launched on 28 February 2020 at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur. The videos were released on Tourism Malaysia’s official VM2020 website today.

The videos titled ‘Diverse’ and ‘Amazing’ were especially made using SHARP’s AQUOS 8k technology to capture Malaysia’s sights and sounds, encapsulated by the tagline ‘Truly Aquos 8K, Truly Asia Malaysia’. ‘Amazing’ had also bagged the award for the best video under the Tourism Board Category at the Asia Destination Award in Bangkok in January 2020.

"We are very happy to collaborate with SHARP to create video content that does not only to showcase the beauty of Malaysia, but also serves to represent our national identity to a global audience,” said Datuk Musa Yusof, Director General of Tourism Malaysia.

While both videos are no longer than 3 minutes, they give a snapshot on the diversity of Malaysia and succinctly capture the multifarious nature of our ethnicities, arts and crafts as well the myriad of traditional dances to captivate both domestic and international tourists. The highlights on places of attractions throughout the video are hoped to stimulate interest and give ideas for future visitors on the local hotspots to be explored across the country.

The video collaboration with SHARP is part of the digital marketing campaign by Tourism Malaysia with the objective to generate traction on social media as Malaysia aims to welcome 30 million tourist arrivals and receive RM100 billion in tourist receipts for 2020.

The ‘Truly Aquos 8K, Truly Asia Malaysia’ videos are the result of a Memorandum of Joint Collaboration Partnership signed by Tourism Malaysia and SHARP in 2019 with the objective to boost promotion of the Visit Truly Asia Malaysia 2020 campaign. The promotional videos featuring Malaysia’s attractions will be showcased in 19,500 stores (195,000 TV panels) across SHARP’s global network and can be accessed via VM2020 website through the following link: https://vm2020.malaysia.travel/about-vm2020.
