TOURISM MALAYSIA AND KLM SIGN PROMOTIONAL AGREEMENT

Amsterdam, 20 April 2017 – Tourism Malaysia and leading Dutch airline KLM signed a promotional partner collaboration agreement today, which is an effort to boost the tourist arrivals from the Netherlands and other European countries to Malaysia. Both parties agreed to take necessary steps to promote Malaysia to Dutch and Belgium travellers.

Tourism Malaysia and KLM will be developing a substantive programme this season to increase consumer awareness and stimulate travel to Malaysia. One of the elements of the extensive promotional programme is to feature a lead article on Malaysia in the airline’s magazine ‘Flying Dutchman’, which is read by more than four million readers and will also reach hundreds of thousands of KLM’s online followers.

Tourism Malaysia was represented by its Deputy Director General (Promotion) Dato’ Sri Abdul Khani Daud, while KLM was represented by its Commercial Director Daan Pijzel.

The agreement was signed in the presence of the Minister of Tourism and Culture Malaysia Dato' Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz, who is leading a Malaysian delegation to promote Malaysia in the Netherlands and encourage more travellers from the country, as well as other European countries, to visit Malaysia.

“I believe that the combined marketing efforts of both our organisations will result in stronger customer demand and confidence in Malaysia as an ideal holiday destination. KLM is a leading airline while Amsterdam is an important hub to reach other European customers. Therefore, this collaboration is very important for us,” said Dato’ Seri Mohamed Nazri.

As part of the Air France-KLM group, KLM is one of the leading airlines in Continental Europe, having its home base in the Netherlands using Amsterdam Schiphol Airport to connect to more than 150 destinations directly from Amsterdam.
