THE OFFICIAL LAUNCH OF BAZAAR RAMADAN 2005

The annual Bazaar Ramadan which is celebrated nationwide in Malaysia will be officially launched by YAB Dato' Seri Idris Bin Jusoh, Chief Minister of Terengganu and YB Datuk Dr. Leo Michael Toyad, Minister of Tourism, Malaysia at Taman Shahbandar in Kuala Terengganu, Terengganu Darul Iman, at 5.00 pm on 7 October 2005.

Jointly organized by the Ministry of Tourism, Malaysia, and the Terengganu State Government, this official launch will also be graced by distinguished guests from local and foreign countries. The highlights for the event will be nasyid songs performed by Yassin and the Rabbani Group to entertain the crowd. There will be also a free distribution of Bubur Lambuk Terengganu, a local popular porridge delicacy, to members of the public.

The Buka Puasa Ceremony (Break Fast) will be held at the Abidin Mosque. Members of the public, irrespective of their religious backgrounds, are cordially invited to join the break fast ceremony with the Muslims.

In Malaysia, the Malays, the Chinese, Indians, Eurasians and other indigenous groups retain and nurture their individual customs, traditions and religions but exist in perfect harmony. As a multiracial and multicultural country, Malaysia showcases a kaleidoscope of colourful customs and religions.

The Bazaar Ramadan is one of them and bears testimony to the tolerance of the multiracial communities living together in peace and harmony.
