SUZHOU WINS OVERALL BEST FLOTILLA FOR MAGIC OF THE NIGHT 2012
PUTRAJAYA, 12 July 2012 – China has won the ‘Overall Best Boat’ award for the Magic of the Night 2012 parade here in Putrajaya, with their winning flotilla from Suzhou.
The ‘Magic of the Night’ event is a parade of decorated flotillas that cruise along the 3km stretch of Putrajaya’s waterfront, attracting tourists to the administrative capital in conjunction with this year’s ‘Floria Putrajaya 2012’ festival. The festival, which began on 30 June 2012, lasted 9 days until 8 July.
Minister of Tourism, Dato’ Sri Dr Ng Yen Yen, congratulated the winners at the closing and prize-giving ceremony, adding that she hoped they would continue to support the Ministry in their future endeavours.
The winner of each category was awarded a contemporary art trophy, made by renowned Malaysian artist, Mr Ch’ng Huck Teng, with the theme ‘Together, A Beautiful World’.

ABOUT 1MALAYSIA INTERNATIONAL TOURISM NIGHT FLORAL PARADE 2012: MAGIC OF THE NIGHT
This is the second installation of the 1Malaysia International Tourism Night Floral Parade 2012 organised by the Ministry of Tourism. This year, the parade showcased 15 beautifully-lighted boats which cruised the Putrajaya Lake for nine consecutive nights starting 30 June until 8 July 2012 at Precinct 2 from 8.30pm to 10.30pm.
The opening ceremony was graced by Seri Paduka Baginda Raja Permaisuri Agong, Tuanku Hajah Haminah on June 30.
Themed “Magic of the Night”, the 1Malaysia International Tourism Night Floral Parade 2012 promoted the diversity and richness of nature, culture and tradition of the country.
