RESUME CUTI-CUTI MALAYSIA BY SAVING UP TO RM100 WITH THESE SPECIAL LANGKAWI HOTEL DEALS

PUTRAJAYA, 17 September 2021 – It is time to resume our holiday plans as Tourism Malaysia, in collaboration with the Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) and Shopee Malaysia, are relaunching the “Jom Cuti-Cuti Malaysia! Experience Malaysia Like Never Before” campaign, which features special hotel deals in Langkawi beginning 16 September 2021.

This comes on the heels of the announcement that Langkawi will reopen to fully vaccinated domestic tourists as part of the government's travel bubble initiatives. Malaysians can now redeem an RM50 e-voucher for a 2-days-1-night (2D1N) stay at one to three-star rated hotels, or an RM100 e-voucher for a 2D1N stay at four to five-star rated hotels in Langkawi valid until 31st December 2021.

Dato’ Hj. Zainuddin Abdul Wahab, Director General of Tourism Malaysia said, “The announcement by the government on the reopening of Langkawi through domestic tourism bubble is truly long-awaited news for everyone in the industry. The “Jom Cuti-Cuti Malaysia!” campaign serves as one of our efforts in encouraging Malaysians to have the confidence to travel once again, albeit while taking extra precautions. This pilot project is important in reviving Malaysia’s tourism supply chain, all of which were severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Yap Lip Seng, CEO of MAH shared, “We understand that many are eager to travel after a prolonged period of movement restrictions. This campaign provides a great incentive for Malaysians to do so. Rest assured that all parties involved have taken the necessary precautions to provide as safe a travel experience as possible for everyone. Look out for MAH’s very own “Clean & Safe Malaysia” certified hotels for added assurance, we are ready to welcome you back.”

Meanwhile, Kenneth Soh, Senior Manager (Marketing) of Shopee Malaysia said, “We are always striving to empower local communities, and in this case the hoteliers and other industry players involved, starting with those on Pulau Langkawi. Malaysians can find offers on our platform for hotels at various price points, to accommodate tourists at all budget levels. We will also activate a specially curated search for hotel offers in Langkawi, to further ease the purchasing process of those keen on visiting the beautiful island. Although there is still a long road ahead, we believe this is a pragmatic first step for the industry to bounce back in a safe manner.”

Tourism activities and attractions at the resort island are expected to resume, subject to strict standard operating procedures (SOP) set by the National Security Council (NSC) from 16 September onwards. As announced by the Ministry of Health (MOH), those planning to visit Langkawi are required to undergo a COVID-19 test prior to their arrival. Tourists are advised to follow the latest tourism travelling SOP on NSC and MOH websites before travelling.

On top of hotel deals in Langkawi, the campaign also features hotels from other states across the country. The “Jom Cuti-Cuti Malaysia! Experience Malaysia Like Never Before” campaign was launched in December last year through Tourism Malaysia’s Stimulus Recovery Plan, together with MAH and Shopee to revive the tourism supply chain economy.
