PUTRAJAYA & KUALA LUMPUR WELCOME SINGAPORE’S TRAVEL AGENTS TO UNCOVER MALAYSIA

PUTRAJAYA, 17 JULY 2024
– Tourism Malaysia hosted a business-to-business (B2B) seminar today under a 3-day 2-night (3D2N) familiarization trip (FAM Trip) around Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur, emphasizing the dual-city holidays concept in Malaysia.

Held at Zenith Hotel Putrajaya, 14 travel agents from Singapore had the opportunity to connect with more than 40 local representatives, including travel agents, tourism product owners, and hoteliers from Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur.

The session facilitated the creation of new business partnerships, contract renewals, product updates, and the development of attractive travel packages specifically designed for tourists from Singapore, while allowing participants to immerse themselves in the new and updated tourism products.

Participants were greeted by Mr. Lee Thai Hung, Deputy Director General (Promotion) of Tourism Malaysia. “We trust that both the Singapore travel agents and our local travel agents will have a fruitful B2B session with the local product owners in establishing business partnerships, new or renewed contracts, product updates and mutual understanding in developing new packages and attractive prices dedicated to tourists in Singapore,” he said.

The programme will continue with an educational and informative trip to the two cities, including a short city excursion through the Putrajaya Lake Cruise, visits to new hotels, the Merdeka 118’s new observation deck, a trip to Broga Orchard Hills and the last surviving traditional village in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, Kampung Baru. Participants will also learn about Malaysia’s award-winning medical tourism through a session with the Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC) at the Damansara Specialist Hospital 2.

Ranked as the top source of tourist-generating markets, Malaysia welcomed 8.3 million Singaporean tourists in 2023. With a target of receiving 27.3 million tourists and generating RM102.7 billion in revenue in 2024, Malaysia is poised for continued growth. The upcoming Visit Malaysia 2026 further exemplifies this ambition, aiming to attract 35.6 million foreign tourists and achieve RM147.1 billion in tourist receipts.
