MALAYSIA TOURISM HUNT 2013 PROMOTES TOURISM DESTINATIONS IN THE SOUTHERN REGION OF THE PENINSULAR MALAYSIA
KUALA LUMPUR, 9 SEPT 2013: A total of 108 local and foreign participants will take part in the second edition of the Malaysia Tourism Hunt 2013, organised by Tourism Malaysia from 22 until 28 September which will begin in Putrajaya and end in Johor Bahru, Johor.
Malaysia Tourism Hunt is a tourism promotional programme that combines the “Fly & Drive” concept with various exciting tourism exploration activities such as folk games, fun treasure hunt and corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities in the form of voluntourism.
The participants consist of 80 local media representatives, 10 foreign media representatives from ASEAN countries, as well as five local tourism industry players and 13 sponsors’ representatives who will face various challenges while traversing through some of the popular tourist destinations in the southern region of the Peninsular Malaysia. The hunt begins in Putrajaya and continues to Sepang, Port Dickson, Melaka, Muar, Kluang, and Nusajaya before finishing in Johor Bahru.
The event, which will last for 6 days and 5 nights, will see participants travelling 1000km through highways, touristic routes and traditional villages to experience the natural beauty of Malaysia, as well as get to know the local history, cultures, and communities of each destination and also to enjoy the theme parks which are the latest attractions in Johor.
Among the types of challenges that participants will face throughout the event include photo hunts, scavenger hunts, amazing race, fear factor and many others.
The flag off for the Malaysia Tourism Hunt 2013 will be held on 24 September 2013 in Putrajaya.
Minister of Tourism and Culture Malaysia, YB Dato’ Seri Mohamed Nazri Tan Sri Abdul Aziz commented that the first Malaysia Tourism Hunt had managed to capture the hearts of both local and foreign media who participated in the event.
The Minister said this in a press conference during the pre-launching of the Malaysia Tourism Hunt 2013 and the handing over of sponsorships by the sponsors held at Bistro Hall, MaTiC in Jalan Ampang earlier today,
“The response from the participants was very encouraging as most of them felt that the event had given them the opportunity to experience first-hand the beauty and uniqueness of Malaysia as well as exchanging their views and experiences about Malaysia,” he said.
Dato’ Seri Mohamed Nazri also said that the programme will be held continuously as it encouraged local and foreign tourists to go on a ‘Fly and Drive’ journey to visit all the attractive tourist destinations throughout the country which is the latest trend in tourism.
A smart partnership has been established with Harian Metro and Gaya Travel magazine which have been appointed as the official media (news) and travel magazine respectively while Gua.com was appointed as the official portal for the event.
Tourism Malaysia has also established a smart partnership with private companies and other government agencies. The list of sponsors is available as attached.
