KELANTAN NATIONAL WATER FESTIVAL 2004

Fun and exciting waterbased games and activities await visitors at the Kelantan National Water Festival 2004 which kicks off with a fourday Sales and Exhibition expo showcasing products related to water and handicrafts on 15 April 2004 at Tebing Sungai Kelantan in Kota Bahru.

On 16 April 2004, the public will experience the thrills and spills of waterbased games activities at the banks of the Kelantan River where numerous activities are organised.

The following day on 17 April 2004, the Sultan of Kelantan, His Royal Highness (HRH) Sultan Ismail Petra Ibni Almarhum Sultan Yahya Petra will grace the Kelantan National Water Festival 2004. The official ceremony coincides with HRH's silver jubilee anniversary as Sultan of Kelantan.

The Kelantan Chief Minister, Dato' Haji Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat, and Tourism Minister Datuk Dr Leo Michael Toyad are expected to attend the event.

At 9pm, HRH Sultan Ismail Putra and his consort, HRH Tengku Anis Tengku Abdul Hamid, will board the royal barge at the Istana Kota Lama to Tebing Sungai Kelantan.

Upon arrival, the royal couple will be escorted to the royal stage where HRH Sultan Ismail Putra will receive the royal scroll and officially launch the event. The excitement continues with a water
parade of decorated boats on the river followed by a cultural show.

The Kelantan National Water Festival is one of the main events organised during the monthlong
National Water Festival from 10 April 2004 to 8 May 2004. It was launched by His Majesty The King
Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin at Ampang Jajar, Alor Star Kedah on 10 April 2004.

This festival, which has been held annually since 1999, is aimed at promoting sports and entertainment activities that can be held at rivers, beaches and other water resources such as lagoons,
waterfalls, hot springs, ponds and old mining pools in the country.
