4TH PUTRAJAYA FLOWER AND GARDEN FESTIVAL (PUTRAJAYA FLORIA) 2011

The Putrajaya Flower & Garden Festival also known as Putrajaya Floria will be held for the fourth time at the Waterfront, Precinct 2 in Putrajaya from 9 till 17 July, 2011. It is organised by Perbadanan Putrajaya (Putrajaya City Council) with the support of the Ministry of Federal Territories and Urban Wellbeing.  


The Honourable Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato’ Sri Najib Tun Haji Abdul Razak will be launching the Putrajaya Floria 2011 at 9.45 am on 9 July at the Waterfront, Precinct 2 in Putrajaya.  


Themed ‘Roses are Forever’, a total of 12,000 roses of various types, 400,000 flowers, herbal plants, wild trees and ornamental landscape plants will be exhibited and used in the floral arrangements, garden and landscape designs and decorations of the festival.


The Malaysian government and private sector, corporate agencies, associations and flower growers as well as renowned international garden designers will take part by showcasing creative garden designs.


The international participants are 15 flora and landscape designers from Canada, Japan, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Kenya, Macao, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, United Kingdom and United States of America.


More than 200 daily activities, entertainment, edutainment, gardening workshops and horticultural demonstrations will be held during the nine days of the festival.


Among the main attractions of the Putrajaya Floria are the:-
•    Therapy Garden – A therapy garden that provides foot, hand and shoulder massage, reflexology and fish spa to the public at a small charge
•    Floral Pavilion – The indoor pavilion will showcase creative floral displays in various forms such as a Special Rose Garden, International Garden, Spa Garden, Vase with Rose competition, Red Carpet Dress competition, Rose Tower and Rose Throne
•    School & University gardens - Exhibitions and creative garden design competitions for school and university students
•    Heliconia, Orchid and Bonsai displays
•    Nature photography and water color painting competitions
•    1Malaysia International Tourism Night Floral Parade

More than 80 lots are provided for the flower exhibitors at the festival. There will also be 55 handicraft entrepreneur stalls at Laman Seni, 50 flower, landscape and horticultural products stalls at the Garden Bazaar & Hortmart and 40 food and beverage stalls selling local and international cuisine.


Besides experiencing the variety of flora on display, visitors will have the opportunity to improve their knowledge on garden care, gardening techniques and floral decorations for the home. This festival also provides an opportunity for growers, florists and landscape designers to introduce and showcase their products.


The Putrajaya Floria 2011 will be held for nine days at the Waterfront, Precinct 2, Putrajaya. The festival will be open to public from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. (Monday to Thursday) and 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 midnight (Friday to Sunday).  Admission is FREE.

1Malaysia International Tourism Night Floral Parade (1MITNF) 2011

The Ministry of Tourism, Malaysia is taking part in the Putrajaya Floria 2011 for the first time by organising the 1Malaysia International Tourism Night Floral Parade (1MITNF) 2011 from 9 till 17 July at Putrajaya Lakeside, Precinct 3 in Putrajaya.


The event will be launched by the Minister of Tourism, Malaysia, Dato’ Sri Dr. Ng Yen Yen at 8.50 pm on 9 July.


With the theme ‘Magic of the Night’, the event sees a total of 13 flower-decorated and lighted boats from the state governments (Melaka, Perlis, Terengganu, Perak, Johor, Pahang and Putrajaya), public and private organisations (AirAsia, Sunway Group, I-Berhad and Tourism Malaysia) and foreign participants (Brunei and Cambodia) competing for awards in four categories – Overall Best Boat, Most Creative Boat, Best Lighted Boat and Most Popular Boat.


These boats will sail along the Putrajaya Lake every night before they drop anchor for a static display at the end of each day.


The 1MITNF 2011 activities include the night floral boats photography contest, fireworks display and musical and cultural group performances, to name a few. There will also be 20 tourism related booths offering various tourism products and packages to the public.
