PUTRAJAYA, 9 July 2011 - The Ministry of Tourism today launches its first-of-its-kind "1Malaysia International Tourism Night Floral Parade 2011" showcasing 14-lighted boats which will cruise the Putrajaya Lake for nine consecutive nights starting today until 17 July 2011.

Themed "Magic of the Night", the "1Malaysia International Tourism Night Floral Parade 2011" is aimed at introducing and promoting the diversity and richness of nature, culture and tradition of the country.

In addition, it is to cultivate environmentally friendly culture, increase awareness and appreciation of the beauty of flora and fauna as well as create an innovative tourism product to attract international tourists to the region.

The "1Malaysia International Tourism Night Floral Parade 2011" is also expected to add excitement and colours to Putrajaya's night life. The event is held in conjunction with Putrajaya's annual signature event "Floria Putrajaya 2011" which displays the best of the Malaysia's landscape designs and as well as parks and gardens.

For nine consecutive nights, 14 boats measuring a minumum size of 40ft x 12ft decorated with colourful lights and items depicting the exotic flora and fauna and icons will cruise along a three-kilometre stretch at the Putrajaya Lake after sunset.

All participating boats will be in a static display after the floating parade to enable visitors and tourists to have a closer look and appreciate the designs and details of each floral boat.

Other attractions awaiting visitors at the parade are 20 tourism-related booths that offer various tourism product and packages for the public, a photography contest of Night Floral Boats, fireworks display, performance by musical and cultural group including Shafinaz, Rhythm of Borneo Group, No Noise Percussion Group, Balle Balle, Nakasutra Group, Mokaba Group, PCC Orchestra, Kiruba Group, Fresco Harmonica Group, fun activities and competitions including 1Malaysia Green, 1Malaysia Clean and Tarian Cuti-Cuti 1Malaysia.

Some 700,000 spectators are expected to flock the "1Malaysia International Tourism Night Floral Parade 2011".
