HASBRO PARTNERS WITH FENIX NUVO AS ITS STRATEGIC ‘FUN-RUN’ PARTNER IN MALAYSIA SUPPORTED BY TOURISM MALAYSIA ‘STARTING WITH A SERIES OF THE MOST MAGICAL 'MY LITTLE PONY RAINBOW RUN & HUNT’

Kuala Lumpur, 24th November 2023; Experiential specialists, Fenix Nuvo Sdn Bhd in collaboration with Hasbro – the world’s largest toy company, brings the first ever My Little Pony (MLP) Fun Run to Malaysia, a series of the Most Magical Run Ever; the 'My Little Pony Rainbow Run & Hunt' where participants will be taken through a whimsical adventure like never seen before.

MLP is the first of many more events to come as Fenix Nuvo has an entire roadmap of iconic brands under Hasbro coming to Malaysia in 2024 and 2025, with Tourism Malaysia as the anchor partner - accelerating its exposure nationally as well as abroad.

The first run will be held on 9th December 2023 at Horizon Hills Iskandar in Johor Bahru in partnership with Gamuda Berhad. It will be a signature run inaugurated in Malaysia, the very first in Asia.

This will be followed by the second run on 20th January 2024 at Bandar Seri Coalfields in Klang Valley, supported by KLK Land.

“The partnership and collaboration between Hasbro and Fenix Nuvo will allow us to create a truly unique House of Brands where we craft not just an ordinary run but an experiential adventure where it's immersive beyond expectation while staying true to the DNA of these iconic brands”, says Datin Lea Chan, Chief Executive Officer, Fenix Nuvo Sdn. Bhd.

“It will be an enjoyable day of fun and excitement not only for children, but parents alike to immerse themselves in different zones within the world of ‘Equestria’ as they experience the magical world of My Little Pony”, she adds.

My Little Pony is a toy line and media franchise developed by Hasbro that has since become a global phenomenon mostly amongst young girls & boys. The ponies feature colourful bodies, manes, and a unique symbol on one or both sides of their flanks.

Throughout the 80s, a whopping 150 million ponies were sold. In 2010 Hasbro launched the fourth incarnation of the franchise which started with the animated series MLP – Friendship is Magic. The brand grossed over $650 million in retail sales in 2013, and over $1 billion annually in 2014 and 2015.

Meanwhile, Dato’ Dr Ammar Abd Ghapar, Director General of Tourism Malaysia, says that Tourism Malaysia is very pleased to be working with Fenix Nuvo Sdn Bhd in organizing this event to promote local destinations such as Johor and Klang Valley.

“This certainly would help our ‘Cuti-Cuti Malaysia’ campaign to encourage more domestic tourists to explore our scenic cities and in return contribute to the tourism expenditure through this event,” says Dato’ Dr Ammar.

He adds, “Collaborative efforts from both the public and private sectors are crucial in not only promoting domestic tourism but also for the growth and development of Malaysia’s tourism sector particularly in preparation of VMY 2026”

Transformers’ Night Run

In spirit of even more unique experiences to come, Fenix Nuvo Sdn. Bhd, will also be crafting the world’s very first Transformers’ Night Run tentatively scheduled for 26th May 2024 in Kuala Lumpur.

Transformers has been an iconic mainstay on toy store shelves and TV screens for close to four decades now. Originally a toy line and cartoon series from 1984 produced by Hasbro, it has become one of the best-selling toys of all time. Transformers led to an animated movie in 1986, many future toy lines, alongside a series of live-action movies that blow the top off box office even till date.

“For the Transformers Night Run, Fenix Nuvo has partnered with Alpha Kurnia, a conglomerate with extensive reach in both the public and private sectors across different industries. I am not at liberty to divulge further details just yet, but we may have an iconic Transformers’ night run at a location near and dear to the heart of all Malaysians”, shares Datin Lea Chan.

Nerf Supersoaker SplashTastic

If MLP and Transformers aren’t enough, Fenix Nuvo also brings Malaysians the Nerf Supersoaker SplashTastic experience which will be held over two days on the 1st and 2nd of June 2024 at the Adventure Waterpark Desaru Coast.

Nerf is another global phenomenon under Hasbro, that has consistently ranked as the Top 5 most valuable toy brand in the world. In 2022 alone, Nerf sold over 40 million blasters worldwide and its cult following uniquely transcends from young kids to hard core adult fans.

“This too will be a series of events which starts in Malaysia, followed by Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines”, utters Datin Lea Chan.

An Adventure with My Little Pony (MLP)

Participants will be able to pose for ‘Pony-Grammable’ moments along the route. “We will bring the land of Equestria to life featuring Zephyr Heights and Bridlewood Forest as places to explore within the Rainbow Hunt, a scavenger hunt like adventure, another fun activity for the kids”, explains the Chief Executive Officer.

Other attractions, she adds, will include Friendship Tunnel, a 40th Year Anniversary Carnival, filled with fun farm-themed games, carnival activities and food for the whole family to spend the day together.

“There’s nothing any-pony loves more than a scrumptious picnic in the park. At the Picnic Par-Tea, participants, as well as both parents and children alike will be able indulge themselves into a variety of scrumptious food and beverages”, exclaims Datin Lea Chan.

Other notable attractions would include the Harvest Hooves HayBale Labyrinth where ‘fillies’ will have fun finding their way out of the hay-bale maze, Apple-tastic Catapult, Applejack’s Rollin’ Bowl, Carnival Games, Fluttershy’s Save the Ducks, Rainbow Dash’s Daring Balloon Rescue, Apple Jack Tossin, as well as merchandise booths.

“We expect between 3,000 to 5,000 participants to partake at each venue”, ends Datin Lea Chan.
