BERJAYA TIOMAN RESORT LAUNCHES ITS OWN BERJAYA FERRY SERVICES

KUALA LUMPUR, JUNE 2016 – Berjaya Tioman Resort Malaysia is counting down the days to 30 June 2016, which will mark a significant milestone for the resort with the introduction of its own ferry services. Aptly named Berjaya Ferry Services, this service is scheduled to operate daily, departing Berjaya Jetty Tanjung Gemuk, Pahang for the resort situated on the west coast of Tioman Island, and return.

The introduction of this new ferry service under the same brand of Berjaya is driven by the main purpose to provide a seamless travel experience for its guests with the extension of the reputable hospitality and service level of Berjaya Tioman Island, the only premier resort on Tioman Island.

This scheduled daily ferry services departs Berjaya Jetty Tanjung Gemuk at 12.00 noon and return from Berjaya Tioman Resort at 3.00 pm. With a seating capacity of 60 passengers, the ferry is navigated by a licensed captain and 3 crew members and has been duly approved and is compliant to the safety and seaworthiness requirements. The ferry journey takes approximately 100 to 120 minutes one-way, depending on sea and weather conditions. Tickets are priced at RM75 return for adults and RM65 return for children, while single journey tickets are priced at RM45 and RM40 for adults and children respectively.

Guests heading to Berjaya Tioman Resort can also opt to take the ferry service from Mersing Jetty, operated by a public ferry operator. When asked why did Berjaya Ferry Services choose to operate from the Berjaya Jetty Tanjung Gemuk and not the Mersing Jetty, it is because the former is less susceptible to weather and sea conditions compared to the Mersing Jetty, and hence able to achieve operational efficiency and offer service punctuality to its passengers. Driving guides to both jetties are provided on the Berjaya Tioman Resort website, and guests will also find road signages along the way, placed at prominent spots indicating the distance of 50 km, 45 km, 35 km, 20 km and 5km to the jetty.

In addition to the ferry services, Berjaya Tioman Resort has also introduced a team of Ask-Me-Ambassadors. “Our Ask-Me-Ambassadors are the one-stop-centres for our guests at Berjaya Tioman Resort. This team is created to assist our guests starting from their arrival at Berjaya Jetty Tanjung Gemuk where they will arrange the onward journey for the guests to the resort. You can spot them easily from near and far as they will be in the bright and colourful T-shirts that spell ‘Ask Me – Berjaya Tioman Resort’,” said Mondi Mecja, the Area General Manager.

The Ask-Me-Ambassadors are employees of Berjaya Tioman Resort, positioned at Berjaya Jetty Tanjung Gemuk from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm everyday to welcome guests as they arrive at Berjaya Jetty Tanjung Gemuk. Dressed in bright yellow, red, blue or green T-shirts, they are tasked to assist guests in all matters, including the validation of boarding passes, loading of luggages onto the ferry and even recommendations of nearby places for a snack. Mondi added, “In short, they are also called ‘AMA’s, which in the local culture, ‘amah’ sometimes refers to mothers, or in some cases, grandmothers, but essentially, they are seen as the go-to-person who knows-it-all and that is indeed what we hope to achieve with our ‘AMAs’. Our Berjaya Tioman Resort AMAs are mostly locally born and bred, hence they are very familiar with the surrounding areas, and will be able to guide our guests on all matters, even to the best mamak-stall around the jetty or best activities to do while in Tioman.”

To commemorate this eventful launch of Berjaya Ferry Services and the Ask-Me-Ambassadors, Berjaya Tioman Resort is hosting complimentary ferry rides for all passengers onboard the inaugural trip on the 30 June 2016, departing Berjaya Jetty Tanjung Gemuk at 12:00 noon. Join this inaugural ferry ride and be part of the historic moment as you head to Berjaya Tioman Resort for a holiday you deserve. Golden pristine beaches, clear waters rich with vibrant marine life, lush tropical forest that sets the background to exclusive chalets and suites; all these in unison promises the memorable vacation you desire.
