WORLD DRUMS FESTIVAL 2007

The World Drums Festival 2007, a colossal cultural show with a variety of percussion and drum music from all over the world, will be held from 27 until 31 December 2007 in Kuala Lumpur. The Hon. Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor, Minister of Tourism, Malaysia, will launch the grand opening ceremony of the World Drums Festival 2007 at Dataran Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur on 29 December, 8.00pm.
Held for the first time in Malaysia, the World Drums Festival will presents a variety of percussion and drum music from seven participating countries, namely Japan, Indonesia, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Singapore and Malaysia. Themed ‘Beat The World’, this festival gathers the best percussionists and dancers to perform the world’s most basic instrument against a backdrop of the historical Independence Square of Malaysia.
Being one of the major events held in conjunction with the Visit Malaysia Year 2007, World Drums Festival will assemble a wide range of artists brandishing traditional instruments from their homelands and contemporary drum music performance. Admission is free.
The festival will kick-off with pocket shows, first at Sungai Wang Plaza on 27 December (from 4.00pm to 6.00pm) followed by Central Market (from 8.00pm to 10.30pm) on the same day and at Berjaya Times Square on 28 December (from 4.00pm to 7.00pm).

  7. g) Malaysia – Diplomat of Drum (12 members)
  8. h) Malaysia – YAWA Eco Drums Circle (12 members)
