WINNERS OF THE MALAYSIA INTERNATIONAL MEDIA HUNT 2006
Participants from Sweden and Finland emerged the champion team of the recently concluded Malaysia International Media Hunt 2006. Driven and assisted by Mr. Perwira Sulaiman, a Malaysian media member, the car passengers included Mr. Esko Asvik of Finland, and Mr. Tibor Barany and Mr.
Jan Johanston of Sweden. They obtained the highest points in the four stages of the media hunt.
The first runnerup team comprised participants from Cambodia, Mr. Keo Samnang and Mr. Tep Vannak. The car was driven by Ms. Majidah Hashim, a Malaysian travel writer. Participants from the United Kingdom, Mr. Scott Fletcher, Mr. James Pollard, Ms. Kate Plak, together with their driver, Mr. A.K. Rahmat Kassim, a Tourism Malaysia senior officer, clinched the third place.
The inaugural Malaysia International Media Hunt 2006 was flagged off by the Hon. Minister of Tourism, YBM Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor, in the Boulevard of Putrajaya at 8.30 am on 6 March 2006.
This international media hunt from 5 to 11 March 2006 was a motoring journey through five states in Peninsular Malaysia, starting from Putrajaya to Selangor, Perak, Kedah and Penang.
A total of 117 foreign participants comprising media members from 30 countries took part in this media hunt. The participants were from Indonesia, Singapore, Brunei, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, China, Taiwan, Korea, Japan, India, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Qatar, UAE, Australia, South Africa, United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Sweden, Denmark, Russia, Italy, Turkey, France, Spain, Germany, Switzerland and Netherlands.
Some 16 Malaysian media representatives also took part in the media hunt to forge a closer relationship with their counterparts from the visiting international media.
The event was fully supported by the Ministry of Tourism and Tourism Malaysia.
