TOURISM MINISTER UNVEILS VMY 2007 LOGO ON MAS AIRCRAFT

The Minister of Tourism, the honourable, Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor unveiled the Visit Malaysia Year (VMY) 2007 logo on Malaysia Airlines' aircraft at 3.00pm on Sunday, 23 July 2006.

Held at the Malaysia Airlines' hanger in Sepang, this event is part of the VMY 2007 campaign and promotion, which is a collaboration by the Ministry of Tourism, Tourism Malaysia and Malaysia Airlines.

The Malaysia Airlines' B747 aircraft named "Kuala Lumpur" bound for London as flight MH002 on the same evening was the first to be painted with the VMY 2007 logo. Overall, a total of 86 aircraft, including both wide body and narrow body, will carry the VMY 2007 logo.

Also present at the unveiling ceremony were Mr. Idris Jala (Managing Director, Malaysia Airlines), senior officials from Ministry of Tourism, Tourism Malaysia, Malaysia Airlines and captains of the Malaysian travel trade industry.

In his speech, the minister remarked that the unveiling of the Visit Malaysia Year 2007 logo marks another milestone in the harmonious relationship between the Ministry of Tourism, Tourism Malaysia and Malaysia Airlines.

"As Malaysia is gearing up for the Visit Malaysia Year 2007, it is only befitting that we take this opportunity to work together and help make Malaysia visible to 100 over destinations across six continents," he said. We hope the visibility will create awareness and stimulate interest among airline passengers and other travelers to come and visit Malaysia, or plan their holidays early to Malaysia."

The coming year 2007 is meaningful to Malaysians as it marks the 50th anniversary of Malaysia's independence. There is no better way for Malaysians to celebrate this golden jubilee than to share the moment with the rest of the world.
