TOURISM MALAYSIA TO PROMOTE MALAYSIA AT SATTE 2018

NEW DELHI, 30 JANUARY 2018 - Tourism Malaysia is promoting Malaysia in India, in conjunction with the South Asia Travel and Tourism Exchange (SATTE 2018) from today to 2 February 2018. The three-day programme will be held at the Pragati Maidan Convention Centre and it will be an opportunity for buyers and sellers to network with each other and develop new tourism products and packages.

YBhg. Dato’ Dr. Siew Ka Wei, Chairman of Tourism Malaysia, is leading the Malaysian delegation comprising of 8 tour agents, 9 hotel operators, 4 product owners, 2 airline operators and several officials from Tourism Malaysia and the state government to promote Malaysia as a preferred tourist destination.

This year is the 24th year of SATTE since it was first organised in 1994, and it is regarded as one of the largest travel trade exhibitions in the South Asia region, attracting hundreds of trade visitors from all over the world.

Malaysia’s presence at SATTE this year is an early preparation for the promotion of Visit Malaysia Year 2020 in the region. This promotional effort is expected to increase the number of Indian tourists to Malaysia significantly, through promoting a greater awareness of Malaysia as an ideal holiday destination, as well as fostering greater cooperation between tour operators and members of the tourism fraternity.

India is one of the top ten markets for Malaysia, with a total of 638,578 tourists recorded in 2016. Last year, from January to October, total arrivals from India was at 449,559 arrivals.
