TOURISM MALAYSIA STRENGTHENS ITS UNIQUE HOLIDAY OFFERINGS IN NICHE SEGMENTS

PARIS, 17 September 2024 – Tourism Malaysia is proud to announce its participation in the IFTM Top Resa 2024, taking place from 17th to 19th September at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles (Booth B024). During this event, Tourism Malaysia will be launching new tourism packages in collaboration with its partner, Voyage Privé, which will be available starting October.

Malaysia: a country with many faces, a unique land!

Malaysia, a real mosaic of cultures, boasts a rich ethnic mix where Malays, Chinese, Indians and other communities live in harmony. In Borneo, for example, indigenous tribes still live according to age-old traditions. This diversity is also reflected in the architecture of the cities, and the cultural heritage (mosques, temples, pagodas and churches stand side by side like nowhere else).

When it comes to destinations, Malaysia offers a multitude of choices, with its varied landscapes ranging from the paradise islands of Langkawi to the mysterious forests of Borneo and the mountains of the Cameron Highlands. Malaysia also invites travelers to explore Sabah and Sarawak, true natural treasures on the island of Borneo. The Niah Caves in Sarawak, for example, have recently been officially declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

A growing niche tourism offering

Malaysia offers a multitude of memorable life experiences, featuring human interaction, nature and sporting activities, for example. Among the key tourism niches that Tourism Malaysia wishes to promote at IFTM Top Resa 2024 include:

  • Homestay: sharing and cultural immersion
  • Nature and adventure: a playground for adventurers
    • Scuba diving in the coral reefs of Sipadan, one of the best spots in the world.
    • Hiking and cycling in the breathtaking landscapes of Malaysia's tropical forests and mountains.
    • Sport fishing, golf, and sailing for water sports and leisure enthusiasts.

  • Wedding and honeymoon: romance and exoticism

With the homestay programme, travellers have the opportunity to stay with local families and discover the Malaysian way of life on a daily basis. A total cultural immersion for unique moments of sharing.

Nature and adventure lovers will not be disappointed by the incredible range of activities on offer:

Malaysia, with its idyllic beaches and enchanting landscapes, is a destination of choice for couples looking to celebrate their wedding or enjoy an unforgettable honeymoon.

“Tourists today aspire to experience authentic moments, to reconnect with what is essential, whether through nature or moments shared with family or friends. Malaysia offers customised travel experiences, far removed from mass tourism, where the emphasis is on the quality of interactions and the authenticity of discoveries. Nature and people are at the heart of our destination, our wealth lies in our cultural diversity, and we take care to preserve it while offering holidays that allow to discover it in an intimate and respectful way. Besides, with the recent announcement of direct flights from KLIA to Charles de Gaulle Airport by Malaysia Airlines which will commence on 22 March 2025 is expected to significantly enhance tourist traffic between Malaysia and Paris, offering more convenient travel options and fostering closer ties between the two countries,” explained Zalina Ahmad, Director at Tourism Malaysia Paris.

Between January and June 2024, Malaysia welcomed 71,874 French nationals and over 11.8 million internationals tourists, i.e. +28.9% more tourists than in 2023 over the same period.

Tourism Malaysia will be present alongside its partners: Malaysia Airlines, Asian Trails, Malai Adventure, Bamboo Adventure, DTH Travel, Concierge à la Carte by Canary Tours, and Tiarasa Escapes to help visitors discover all aspects of fascinating Malaysia at stand B024.
