TOURISM MALAYSIA RAMP UP VISIT MALAYSIA 2026 CAMPAIGN IN BANGLADESH

DHAKA, 6 February 2025 - Tourism Malaysia is spearheading the promotion of the Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign at the 20th Dhaka Travel Mart (DTM) 2025 in Bangladesh, taking place from 6 to 8 February 2025.

In its 13th participation in DTM since its inception in 2002, the Malaysian delegation, comprising tour operators and airlines, along with representatives from Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS) and KPJ Healthcare Berhad, is intensifying promotion to the Bangladeshi market.

With the growing demand for alternative and unique travel experiences, Malaysia has been diversifying its tourism products to cater to different types of travellers. Malaysia is also promoting medical, educational, and ecotourism to attract more tourists from Bangladesh and other countries in South Asia.

Datuk Manoharan Periasamy, Director-General of Tourism Malaysia, said: “We believe Bangladesh is one of the important markets for us, and therefore committed to strengthening our presence and working alongside tourism fraternities to ramp up Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign in this region.”

Tourism Malaysia’s participation at DTM 2025 is a perfect avenue to raise Malaysia’s profile and showcase its unique tourism product offerings and forge closer relationships with its Bangladeshi counterparts. On the other hand, the pre-arranged business-to-business (B2B) session opens doors to potential collaborations and further engagements.

For 2024, Malaysia recorded 25,016,698 international tourist arrivals and welcomed 143,919 Bangladeshi tourists. The number is projected to grow to 31.3 million international tourist arrivals, with RM125.5 billion in tourism receipts, as targeted in 2025.

Currently, visa applications to Malaysia can be made online through eVISA. In terms of connectivity, there are 42 direct flights with 9,638 seats offered weekly between Dhaka and Malaysia via Malaysia Airlines, Batik Air, AirAsia, Biman Bangladesh Airlines and US-Bangla Airlines.

The Dhaka Travel Mart (DTM) is the biggest Travel extravaganza in Bangladesh, being held under the auspices of premier travel publication of the country - The Bangladesh Monitor.
