TOURISM & CULTURE MINISTER LAUNCHES SPECIAL MALAYSIA TRAVEL PACKAGES TO KOREANS

SEOUL, KOREA, 6 SEP 2013 – Malaysia’s Tourism & Culture Minister YB Dato’ Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz has launched special holiday packages targeted at Korean travellers today at the Westin Chosun Hotel.

The seven packages offer Koreans the choice of experiencing Malaysia’s diverse tourist attractions and offerings such as jungle trekking, mountain trekking, heritage sites visits, diving, rail tours, culture and cruise. Such popular Malaysian destinations as Taman Negara, Kota Kinabalu, Mataking, Melaka, Johor, and Kuching are being featured.

The launch cum dinner saw a turnout of about 80 people from the local media and tourism trade fraternity.

The initiative is part of efforts to promote Malaysia as a top-of-mind tourist destination to Koreans especially with the Visit Malaysia Year celebrations to kick off in just four months. The Visit Malaysia Year 2014 campaign is expected to attract 28 million tourists to Malaysia next year.

Korea is among Malaysia’s key growing markets with 2012 showing a growth of 7.8 per cent from 263,428 arrivals in 2011 to 283,977 in 2012.

It will contribute to the Government’s target to receive 36 million tourist arrivals and RM168 billion in receipts by 2020, as outlined in the Malaysia Tourism Transformation Plan (MTTP) 2020.
