THE MINISTER OF TOURISM, ARTS AND CULTURE MALAYSIA EMBARKS ON WORKING VISIT TO SINGAPORE
SINGAPORE, 15 May 2025 – The Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia, YB Dato’ Sri Tiong King Sing embarks on a work visit to Singapore with the aim of deepening bilateral cooperation in tourism as well as expanding cross-border connectivity and positioning Malaysia as a preferred travel destination for Singaporeans.
The Minister will engage with key stakeholders in the tourism and transport sectors, including high-level meetings with Scoot Airlines as well as the Express and Excursion Bus Association (EBBA) of Singapore. These meetings are part of the Ministry’s continuous efforts to improve air and land accessibility between the two nations, facilitating a more convenient travel experience.
The highlight of the itinerary is the Minister’s presence at the Maybank Premier MM2H—Your Gateaway to Malaysia event. The event is organised in partnership with Maybank Singapore, as designed to showcase the Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) programme’s benefits ranging from investment and retirement to lifestyle opportunities while encouraging greater participation from Singapore’s affluent and mobile community.
In 2024, Malaysia welcomed 18,855,680 visitors from Singapore, representing a 27.2% increase from 2023 and surpassing the pre-pandemic 2019 figure by 10.7%. Thus, Singapore remains a vital market for Malaysia’s tourism industry.
The MM2H programme has similarly drawn strong interest, with Singapore ranking as the third-highest source country for applications in Q1 2025—trailing only Taiwan and China. In evident as Singaporean visitors also contributed RM27.94 billion in tourism receipts in 2024, increased of 29.5% from the previous year.
With this visit, the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture reaffirms its dedication to revitalizing travel between Malaysia and Singapore to foster long-term tourism with lifestyle engagement while highlighting Malaysia as a warm, dynamic, and future-ready destination.
