SIGNING OF MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN MALAYSIA AND THE REPUBLIC OF KENYA IN TOURISM COOPERATION
PUTRAJAYA, 1 June: Malaysia and the Republic of Kenya have concluded a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for tourism cooperation with a signing ceremony which was held at the Ministry of Tourism, Malaysia’s office, today.
Malaysia was represented by the Honourable Minister of Tourism, Dato’ Sri Dr. Ng Yen Yen while Republic of Kenya was represented by the Honourable Minister of Tourism Kenya, Danson Mwazo.
The objective of the MoU is to develop, strengthen and promote co-operation between the two countries in the field of tourism on the basis of equality and mutual benefit. The areas of collaboration are in the following areas:
a) Research and development;
b) Training;
c) Promotional and publicity materials;
d) Meetings, conventions and travel mart/trade fairs;
e) Investment; and
f) Any other areas of co-operation in the field of tourism to be mutually agreed upon by the Parties.
Among the agendas include inviting Kenya to participate in the Magic of the Night Parade 2012 and to promote Malaysia My Second Home and Homestay to Kenyans.
This is the Ministry’s first MoU with an African country which will provide the framework to enhance bilateral tourist flows between Malaysia and Kenya. Malaysia looks forward to warmly welcome all Kenyans to visit Malaysia to experience the diversity of culture and heritage and savour the sights and sounds of ‘Malaysia Truly Asia’.
