SAVOUR AND EXPERIENCE MALAYSIAN FOOD & CULTURE IN VIENTIANE
VIENTIANE, 26 Jan 2024 – People in the city of Vientiane and suburban now have the chance to have a glimpse of Malaysia's culture, heritage and culinary delights here at their doorstep as Tourism Malaysia is organising a three-day Food and Culture Promotion here at Laotel Hotel, Vientiane from 26 to 28 January 2024.
The promotion will showcase special traditional dances and performances of the different ethnic groups in Malaysia, specially choreographed by Istana Budaya – directly translated as Palace of Culture.
A simple launch to kick start the promotion was graciously led by Dato Sri Tiong King Sing, Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Malaysia, accompanied by Dato’ Roslan Tan Sri Abdul Rahman, Secretary General of Ministry of Tourism, Arts & Culture Malaysia; Dato' Dr. Ammar Bin Abd. Ghapar, Director General of Tourism Malaysia; and Ms. Vivianne Chu, General Manager of IBIS Hotel KLCC. Among other guests attending the launch were fellow Laotian leading industry players, businessmen, media, and corporate institutions.
Patrons to Laotel Hotel too will have the chance to visit a special booth of KARYANEKA, a chain of craft and souvenir outlets in Malaysia that is known for showcasing and selling a diverse range of Malaysian handicrafts, traditional items, and souvenirs that highlight the country's cultural heritage, as well as the booth of ADABI, a leading Malaysia food manufacturing company that will display an array of a variety of food products, including sauces, spice blends, cooking pastes, and other culinary items.
“Malaysia offers of a great, wide range incredible, splendid cuisine from three major ethnicities which are Malay, Chinese and Indian that symbolized the food culture. We have various selections of Halal and Heritage Food, such as Nasi Lemak, Penang Char Kway Teow and Laksa, as well food serves during festive seasons like Rendang, Lemang and Ketupat,” said Dato Sri Tiong King Sing.
MOTAC through our agency National Department for Culture and Arts (JKKN), Istana Budaya, ASWARA will organises a lot of culture events for this year, for example, National Malaysian Dance Festival, International Drum Festival, Malaysia Culture Week, International Lion Dance Festival, Putrajaya Culture Festival, International Wind Festival 2024 and many others.
The highlighted menu during the event includes Pasembur from the island state of Penang, Rendang Tok from the ‘silver’ state of Perak, hot and spicy Sambal Udang Petai Peranakan from the historical state of Melaka, Soto from the southern state of Johor, Hivana from the Bornean state of Sabah, Kek Lapis Sarawak” from the Land of Horn Bill, Sarawak, Roti Canai, Satay Kajang, and the showstopper, Malaysia’s beloved Nasi Lemak and Teh Tarik.
