PARTICIPANTS OF THE 55th INTERNATIONAL AL-QURAN RECITAL CEREMONY TO BE EXPOSED TO TOURIST DESTINATIONS AROUND KLANG VALLEY

PUTRAJAYA, 4 JULY 2013: Tourism Malaysia has arranged for several promotional trips to various tourist attractions in Putrajaya, Kuala Lumpur and Selangor for the participants of the 55th International Al-Quran Recital Ceremony from 30 June until 5 July 2013 in conjunction with the Visit Malaysia Year 2014 campaign (VMY 2014).

The 55th International Al-Quran Recital Ceremony is currently being held from 29 June to 6 July 2013 at the Merdeka Hall, Putra World Trade Centre, Kuala Lumpur, and is attended by 77 participants from 46 countries.

For the first time ever, Tourism Malaysia has been appointed by the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) as the Committee of Work Visitation, under the main Committee of the 55th International Al-Quran Recital Ceremony year 1434H/2013M.

All of the participants attended an Islamic tourism seminar, organised by the Islamic Tourism Centre on 30 June at the Putra Mosque, Putrajaya.

During the seminar, the director of Urusan Triways Travel Network, Tuan Haji Mohd Akil Haji Mohd Yusoff, presented his paper titled, “Islamic Tour: Sharing of Experience” while the Vice Chairperson of Islamic Outreach ABIM and the Project Director of Mosque Tour Guide, Puan Normah Sulaiman, discussed the topic of “Tourism and Islam: The Mosque as a One-Stop Centre”.

The participants also sat in for the Al-Quran and qasidah recitation by Datin Seri Hajah Sharifah Khasif, champion of the International Al-Quran Recital Ceremony in 2009.

The participants were also brought to the Kuala Lumpur Craft Complex, the Kuala Lumpur Tower, the Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC) and the As Saykirin Mosque in KLCC where they performed their prayers.

They had the opportunity to experience the Putrajaya Lake Cruise and visit the Banghuris homestay in Sepang on 2 July, before visiting the Selangor Islamic Art Garden Complex in Shah Alam to witness the Warisan Rasul & Anbiya festival, perform their prayers at the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz mosque in Shah Alam, and visit the Al-Quran printing factory in Batu Tiga, Shah Alam.  

Today, participants will visit the Menara Wakaf, belonging to the Federal Territory Islamic Religious Council (MAIWP) accompanied by a spokesperson from MAIWP, and on the following day the Qari will have a chance of performing the Friday prayers at the National Mosque.

Additionally, Tourism Malaysia has cooperated with various tour agencies domestically and internationally to develop and sell the 55th International Al-Quran Recital Ceremony in the ASEAN region, as part of the efforts to promote Islamic tourism in the country.
