Tourism Malaysia’s pavilion at the Arabian Travel Mart (ATM) 2008 was officially launched this morning by Dato' Mirza Mohammad Taiyab, the Director-General, of Tourism Malaysia.

The colourful event commenced a few minutes after the official launching of the Arabian Travel Mart by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al-Maktoum, the

"The West Asian market is a growing market and as such, we can expect more West Asian visitors to visit Malaysia, especially during the Arabian summer month holiday period. Overall, we are targeting some 300,000 visitors from West Asia, of which 100,000 visitors would come from the United Arab Emirates alone," Dato 'Mirza said to an response to an interview with The Gulf Today.

"As far as accommodation is concerned, Malaysia is able to accommodate 17 million visitors at any one time, provided that it is for just one room night only", he continued.

Tourism Malaysia has been a strong supporter of the Arabian Travel Mart since it was established 15 years ago and sees the West Asia’s emergence as one of the world’s dynamic tourism hub. Today, Tourism Malaysia is one of the 62 national tourism organizations from 70 countries at the ATM 2008.
