MALAYSIA'S TOURISM HIGHLIGHTS - OCTOBER 2013

PUTRAJAYA, 21 August 2013 – A line-up of well-balanced events comprising food, sports, and culture will kick off the final quarter of 2013. Among the noteworthy events that will take place in the month of October include:

Get ready to enjoy a delectable feast as the Malaysia International Gourmet Festival (MIGF) is back for the 13th year! Thirty of the country’s finest restaurants will serve up special menus at special prices, along with a host of attractive offers.

The Festival is an integral part of Tourism Malaysia’s “Fabulous Food 1Malaysia” initiative.

Themed “Cool Chefs!”, this year’s MIGF will continue to promote truly global cuisines including Western, Middle Eastern, Mediterranean and, of course, multi-cultural fare from Malaysia.

Note: The special MIGF preview event - Taste MIGF - will take place from the 6th to 8th September 2013 at Sunway Pyramid Convention Centre.

MOUNTAIN HARD WEAR – KELANTAN ROCK CLIMBING CHALLENGE 2013

The Mountain Hard Wear Kelantan Rock Climbing Challenge 2013 is just the right platform for those who are interested to know more about ‘wall climbing’ or ‘rock climbing’ activity.

Head out to Gua Musang for the adrenaline rush of rock climbing the limestone hills and caves this sleepy town is famous for. Seven categories are being competed over two days of climbing, forums and sales exhibition. Winners of the challenge will get medals, cash prizes, and product vouchers.

27TH MT. KINABALU INTERNATIONAL CLIMBATHON 2013

The ‘World’s Toughest Mountain Race’ is back to challenge those who are game enough to run up and down Mount Kinabalu in a few hours. (Best time recorded was 2:33:56 in 2010)

The two race courses in this year’s Climbathon are: the Summit Race (33km, 19th October) for elite runners and the Adventure Race (23km, 20th October) for non-elite runners. Towards the end of the race, all runners will be greeted by the locals, dressed in traditional costumes.

RHYTHM OF KINABALU (ROK) 2013


In conjunction with the Climbathon race in Kundasang, a musical performance event – Rhythms of Kinabalu (ROK) 2013 will be held to showcase local music ensembles such as bamboo, gong, angklung and gambus.

Get into the rhythmic groove and be serenaded by the mellifluous voices of Malaysia’s contemporary entertainers, from internationally known artistes to new acts.

MALAKOFF POWERMAN ASIAN CHAMPIONSHIP 2013 (RUN-BIKE-RUN)

Calling all run-bike duathletes! The 12th edition of Powerman in Malaysia – the Malakoff Powerman Asian Championship 2013 – will be held in Putrajaya.

The run-bike-run event comprises four main categories – Powerman Elite Category, Powerman Age Group Category, Sprint Category and Team Relay Category. Join and compete with the elites from as far as France and the United Kingdom on a global level!
