MALAYSIA GP SALE

15 March to 15 April 2011

The hottest racing event in the region, the F1 Petronas Malaysia Grand Prix, will flag off soon but preceding it is another very popular race -- the race to great bargains during the Malaysia Grand Prix (MGP) Sale! Beginning 15 March 2011, this annual shopping fest will be dishing out a remarkable choice of goods at sale prices that promises to excite visiting F1 enthusiasts, as well as local shoppers till 15 April.

Held in conjunction with the F1 Petronas Malaysia Grand Prix, the heat of the MGP Sale will especially be felt in the Klang Valley where shopping malls and departmental stores will be offering great bargains and promotions. Tourists coming to enjoy the hottest race in the region are expected to arrive a little early or stay on after the race for the added shopping treat. The shopping fever is also expected to spread to regions beyond Klang Valley. The island of Penang in spite of its distance from the race venue will be joining in with its own version of the MGP sale and activities. Shoppers at the Queensbay Mall will get a taste of F1 fun through the mall’s own GP Sale Carnival taking place between 13 and 31 March.

Another interesting event that will take place in the month of March is the Malaysia International Shoe Festival which will be making its second appearance at Putra World Trade Centre from 7 – 10 April. The event, organised by the Ministry of Tourism, along with the Malaysian Footwear Association, is to position Kuala Lumpur as a leading shopping destination for shoes and will feature an estimated 150 exhibition booths. It will also include a gallery, a workshop on shoe-making, the 30th International Footwear Conference (IFC), roadshows in selected shopping malls, contests and games, and finally a Gala Night at the JW Marriott Hotel which combines dinner, award presentations and fashion shows.

Those who are done with the race and the shopping can head for the many entertainment outlets around the city to join revellers and racing fans to party the night away. Look out for exciting promotions at the many world-class restaurants around the Klang Valley.

And on your way into and out of Malaysia, do check out the duty-free offers at KLIA, LCCT and the numerous retail outlets downtown where ‘import tax exempted’ merchandise is aplenty.

So, gear up for the race of the season and a colourful shopping festival that brings you some of the best bargains!
