Malaysia will soon be filled with the distinctive "chug-chug-chug" of Harley Davidson bikes as a convoy of between 200 and 300 riders from all over the world rendezvous in Kuala Lumpur to participate in the 1^st Southeast Asia Harley Owners Group Rally 2010.

The group, members of the Harley Owners Group from Australia, Brunei, China, England, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Macao, New Zealand, Singapore and the USA, is here to experience the thrill of cruising along Malaysian highways. The first leg of their trip covers Singapore on 4 June, followed by Singapore-KL from 5-6 June, KL-Hatyai on 7 June and Krabi Island from 8-11 June.

The Malaysian leg of the rally will expose the riders to the smooth ride along the Melaka highway, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Genting Highway, and northwards to the Malaysia-Thailand border. The riders will get to experience Kuala Lumpur's exciting street-party scene along the Golden Triangle area, ride through the beautifully-landscaped Putrajaya city, and visit Bentong town for a Malaysian tropical fruits treat.

Organised by the Harley Owners Group in Southeast Asia, the event is a joint effort by the Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia and Brunei chapters of the highly-prestigious club. Tourism Malaysia is a co-sponsor of the event.

Due to the growing interest in big bike tours, Tourism Malaysia is keen to develop this niche interest into another highly-marketable tourism product. Malaysia is well-positioned as an attractive biking destination thanks to its well-connected highways, exotic culture, and diverse attractions. There is also an opportunity to work with neighbouring countries to create a three-destination biking package that will offer more value-for-money for bike enthusiasts.
