throughout the day.The Malaysia Mega Sale Carnival 2005 Official Launch was officiated by the Hon. Datuk Dr. Leo Michael Toyad, the Minister of Tourism, Malaysia at IKANO Power Centre and the Curve in Mutiara Damansara, Petaling Jaya, Selangor on Saturday, 23 July.

The Malaysia Mega Sale Carnival held annually is one of the main economic contributors to the country drawing more tourists to visit Malaysia each year. Speaking at the official launch in Mutiara Damansara tonight, the honourable minister is confident that Kuala Lumpur will be at par with other major shopping cities and as a leading fashion hub in the world. In his speech, Dr. Toyad said
that, during the monthlong Mega Sale Carnival, shoppers will be enthralled to discover unbelievable bargains with huge discounts on a wide range of goods and selected products.

Since its inception in 1999, the Malaysia Mega Sale Carnival has been a significant contributor to the country's economy by drawing more tourists to visit the country every year.

During the launch, shoppers were treated to experience a carnivallike atmosphere as early as11am at IKANO Power Centre and the Curve where various exciting activities, games and contests were linedup
throughout the day.

Meanwhile, under the MasterCard Instant Redemptions & Giveaways Promotion, MasterCard cardholders will receive instant rewards with purchases made during the day. They were also eligible for lucky draws and participated in contests and games exclusively for MasterCard cardholders.

Shoppers also participated in the games and contests organised at IKANO and Tesco followed by scheduled fashion shows by tenants at the Curve from 12 noon to 7pm. In addition, a Busker's Carnival was staged at the IKANO and the Curve from 2pm to 8pm. To add merriment and colour, 5,000 balloons (with gift vouchers and prize draws) were dropped from the top floor ceiling of IKANO.

After the launch ceremony, a Street Party held at the main stage showcased dancers and live entertainment by local artistes such as Ning Baizura, Zainal Abidin and more. At the same time, customers received special bargains at the IKEA Late Night Sale.

Besides discounts and promotions, during the monthlong Malaysia Mega Sale Carnival, visitors will be treated to an irresistible shopping escapade nationwide. Exciting fashion shows will also be held at major shopping malls. For the period between 613 August, shoppers can enjoy a day of entertainment, filled with street parties, art shows, and take part in contests and games at Bintang Walk and Berjaya Times Square in Kuala Lumpur.

SHOPPING EXTRAVAGANZA

Fashion enthusiasts can catch the colourful variety of fashion shows staged within Kuala Lumpur City during the weekends throughout the whole month of August, 2005. These fashion shows will be showcased at the various shopping complexes within the City.
