CHARTER FLIGHTS TO MALAYSIA DURING CHINESE NEW YEAR 2009

In conjunction with the celebration of Chinese New Year 2009, Malaysia is scheduled to receive 25 charter flights from China, Hong Kong and Taiwan between 23 January and 5 February 2009 which are expected to carry about 3,380 holiday-makers.  The points of origin in China are Beijing, Guangzhou, Kunming, and Shanghai.

Sixteen of the flights will land in Kota Kinabalu. The other Malaysian destinations involved in this charter programme  are Kuala Lumpur, Kuching, Kuantan and Langkawi, 

Last year, a total of 949,864 tourists from China (including Hong Kong and Taiwan) visited Malaysia. This signifies a 20.3 per cent increase compared to 789,568 Chinese tourists in 2007.
