ALL SET FOR THE PETRONAS MALAYSIAN GRAND PRIX 2004
With less than two months to go, the stage is set for more
exciting racing thrills at the Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix on 1921
March 2004.
Its organiser, the Sepang International Circuit (SIC) aims to
make the sixth edition of the Formula One World Championship its
biggest ever F1 event.
"After a very exciting 2003 championship which ended in
Suzuka, we believe the 2004 race will be more thrilling with much
stronger interests among Asians following the entry of Bahrain and
Shanghai," said Ahmad Mustaffa, General Manager of Sepang
International Circuit at a briefing held for corporate sponsors recently.
For the first time in the Formula One history, the 2004 race will
be held in four different Asian cities with Bahrain and Shanghai
joining Sepang and Suzuka as hosts of the Formula One.
As in the last three years, Malaysia will host the second round
of the Formula One race, which will open in Melbourne, Australia on 7
March. SIC expects some 120,000 spectators on race day, which will
be on 21 March.
"Our main target market for the year 2004 will be from the Asia
Pacific region especially from Japan, China, Middle East and the
neighbouring South East Asian countries as well as local fans," said
Ahmad.
Among the sponsors for this year's race are TM Net, PLUS
Berhad and Tourism Malaysia.
Tickets will be priced as low as USD27 (RM100). For more
