History

Kawasan seluas 4,932 hektar di Selangor, dikenali sebagai selatan kawasan Prang Besar dikenalpasti sebagai kawasan sesuai untuk membina pusat pentadbiran Kerajaan Persekutuan yang baru.

Kawasan ini kemudian dinamakan semula 'Putrajaya' , sempena nama Perdana Menteri pertama Malaysia, Tuanku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj, yang telah banyak berjasa kepada negara.

Putrajaya terbahagi kepada dua kawasan, yang pertama di pusat pentadbiran. Di sini terdapat bangunan kerajaan dan agensi-agensi. Selain itu terdapat pusat perniagaan dan juga pusat sukan dan rekreasi.

Di kawasan kedua terdapat tempat kediaman, taman-taman selain kemudahan infrastruktur.

Sebuah tasik buatan manusia yang besar menjadi tumpuan utama di Putrajaya.

Economy

Shopping, Dining and Entertainment - Visitors can shop at Souq, a bustling middle-eastern bazaar offering a bewildering range of souvenirs, accessories, clothes, food items, or Alamanda Putrajaya, a popular one-stop shopping complex.

Alternatively, visitors can also head for Anjung and Lanai where restaurants, bookshops, convenience stores, pharmacies and handicraft shops are located.

A wide variety of local and international cuisine can also be sampled at various restaurants and food court in the city.

Putra Mosque
This colossal mosque, inspired by the most beautiful Islamic architecture, leaves both worshippers and non-worshippers in awe.
Putrajaya Cruise
Putrajaya lake is in the heart of the administration city, and visitors can take a leisure cruise on the lake.
